Steven Motor Co. used car lot at 6910 South Tacoma Way. Floyd N. Steven, manager. An ad in the 7/15/1953 Tribune, pg. D-5, stated that business had been so good that the lot was now short on used cars. Steven Motor Co. would now offer an "over allowance" on used cars traded in for new Chryslers or Plymouths at the new car lot. Their slogan was "We sell high quality used cars."

Bellarmine Midget Football players, 1938 city wide champions. Twenty-five boys and coach Leo Eckstein pictured on the field. The Bells beat the Lincoln High School Railsplitters 14 to 7 in the Championship. Midget football was for boys classified as 132 pounds and under. Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Parkhurst, pioneer residents of Tacoma, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day, 1938. The Parkhursts celebrated by sitting down to a large dinner with their children and grandchildren. They were married in 1888 at Brooking, S.D., and moved to Tacoma in 1890. For the past 33 years, they have resided in the same house at 2820 So. Yakima Ave. Mr. Parkhurst retired nine years ago. He had worked for the city, Peterman Manufacturing Co., F.S. Lowell Elementary School. Ordered by Smith & Murray, consulting engineers. William D. Smith and Clyde E. Murray were construction engineers and maintained an office at the Perkins Bldg. Ste. 238. This building replaced the Lowell school at 1210 No. Yakima destroyed in the 1949 earthquake. Lowell students attended Grant, Bryant or Jason Lee until the new school opened in November of 1950. The school is named after James Russell Lowell, American poet and diplomat.

Love Electric Co. Ordered by Smith & Murray, Consulting Engineers. The new $180,000 building measured 175 x 120 feet, with 25,000 feet of floor space. The company was formerly located at 732 Pacific Ave. Love Electric was a wholesale supplier of electrical products and appliances.

College of Puget Sound Memorial Field House. Ordered by Smith & Murray, Consulting Engineers. The fieldhouse was completed in 1949 and dedicated as a tribute to war dead. It was designed by Dugan, Mock & Morrison, architects, and the Roy T. Earley Co. served as contractor. The building housed sporting events and large expositions.

Flooring detail, new Telco location. Ordered by the DFPA. In February of 1953, the site of the former Crawford's Sea Grill Restaurant was leased to Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. (Telco). The site would be remodeled under the direction of R.H. Dobell, architect, and James W. Purvis, contractor, into a new billing center for all of Western Washington, with the exception of Seattle. Workers are shown laying tile for the new office building. The new accounting office was scheduled to open 8/10/1953 with a staff of 58 young women. When the move to the office was completed by the end of 1953, the office would handle 200,000 customer accounts, with an additional 175 people employed. A.P. King from Seattle was selected to head up the office. (TNT 8/2/1953, pg. A-14)
