Scope and content

  • Once the largest geyser in the world, the Excelsior Geyser has been dormant since the late 1800's, except for a couple of eruptions in 1985. Now it is a huge hot spring, which produces over 4,000 gallons of hot water a minute. Numerous vents boil and churn the water within the crater, covering it in a dense layer of steam.
  • Printed: Excelsior Geyser, Yellowstone Park
