Mr. Weiss taught civic and music classes at Annie Wright. The 1952 school yearbook, the "Shield," was dedicated to him in appreciation for all he had given to the students both spiritually and scholastically.

The Junior Class (Class of 1953) are seen at Annie Wright Seminary. The junior class with 29 students was the largest junior class in the history of Annie Wright. They presented "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" for honorable mention at Halloween and "The Mikado" operetta. Names are listed in the school yearbook for 1952, The Shield.

The heavily wooded area between the school and the Stadium district is Garfield Park. Annie Wright Seminary was endowed by Northern Pacific Railroad's President C. B. Wright, with an original grant of $50,000. The school was named for his daughter Annie. It opened in 1884 with 94 students, at its original location of 611 Division Ave. It was moved to this location in 1924.

The American Association of University Women held their annual New Members Tea in the Great Hall at Annie Wright Seminary. The committee for the event gathered around the colorful tea table. L-R, Floramae D. (Mrs. Herbert) Phillips, Mrs. Harold Carlson, Ruth McConihe, Sigrid M. (Mrs. Herman) Sowell and Sarah L. Seven unidentified boys who attended the "Charles Wright School" at Annie Wright Seminary were photographed in December of 1950 while enjoying a snack of milk and animal crackers in their classroom. The Charles Wright School was added as an annex to Annie Wright in 1950 after the big earthquake of 1949 damaged Lowell School so badly it had to be torn down. A group of parents with daughters at Annie Wright asked Ruth Jenkins, the school's headmistress, to accept their sons. She agreed when those parents built an annex that could be converted later into a garage; they called the school Charles Wright. The new school offered classes for K, 1 and 2, but Annie Wright's long-standing policy of not accepting boys made an extension of education there impossible. A group of parents joined together and helped create the Charles Wright Academy, which opened in 1957 on a 127-acre site located between University Place and Lakewood.

The Right Reverend Stephen Fielding Bayne, Jr., Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia (on the left) and the Reverend Canon Arthur Bell, Chaplain Annie Wright Seminary (on the right) in Raynor Chapel at the Seminary. The Annie Wright Alumnae sponsored a series of lectures by Bishop Bayne in 1951 on the topic "What the Bible means today." Wedding portrait of Avonne Nadine Nelson and Lt. Truman Everett Boudinot, Jr. Miss Nelson, daughter of Mrs. Hazel Morton Nelson, and Lt. Boudinot, son of Mrs. Truman Boudinot of Beverly Hills, Ca. and the late Brigadier General Boudinot, were married on a Friday afternoon, January 12, 1951, in Raynor Chapel at the Annie Wright Seminary with Reverend Arthur Bell officiating at the single ring ceremony. Miss Nelson wore a pastel pink Adrian suit with an off white straw hat trimmed with white velvet flowers and carried a bouquet of carnations, pink roses and white stephanotis. The maid of honor was Miss Constance Brady and the best man was Robert Winskill. After the ceremony, the couple left for a three week motor tour of Santa Barbara and Palm Springs. The Right Reverend Stephen Fielding Bayne, Jr. in Raynor Chapel at Annie Wright Seminary. Photo taken for The Shield, Annie Wright Seminary's yearbook, 1950 issue. In 1959, in a surprise move, Rt. Rev. Bayne was elected to head the world wide, 40 million member Anglican Communion with headquarters in London. In a new position created for him, he would coordinate activities of 15 different autonomous churches, including the Episcopal Church of the United States. He would operate as spokesman and leader of the world organization, in hopes of unifying all of its diverse factions. Rt. Rev. Bayne had headed the diocese of Western Washington in Olympia for 12 years. At 52 years of age, Rt. Rev. Bayne had also previously served as a reporter on the Wall Street Journal, as a Navy chaplain and as the Chairman of the Department of Religion at Columbia University. A native of New York City, he was educated at Amherst, ordained in 1932 and consecrated as the Bishop of Olympia in 1947. He was well known as a speaker, famous for his wit and sense of humor. On November 15, 1949, Nancy Jane Bare gave an informal lecture on ballet in the Great Hall at Annie Wright Seminary. To help explain the various moves and positions discussed in her presentation, she used a number of her students to demonstrate including: front row (l to r) Kaydene Anderson and Frances Delano, and behind them (l to r) Carolyn Solberg and Jillean Cormier. By the end of the evening, every Tacoman who attended the free lecture knew the difference between a grand jete and an entrechat. (TNT, 11/13/1949, p.d-12)

A lecture-demonstration was given at Annie Wright Seminary by Nancy Jane Bare and eight students from the school. The program was presented in the Great Hall. The demonstration was concerned with the dancers training and with identification and explanation of some of the poses and dance steps in ballet. Activities at Annie Wright Seminary. In November of 1949, three students were photographed taking a break from studies in one of the large dormitory rooms at Annie Wright Seminary. One of the girls sits at a desk with a book open. Another student leans against one of the dressers in the room while sitting on the arm of an upholstered chair. The other girl sits on the end of her bed with stuffed animals. An Annie Wright banner is hung on the wall and there are also two bulletin boards hung on the walls. Annie Wright Seminary was a private school for girls, many of them boarding, which had been established in September of 1884.

Tea for new members of AAUW at Annie Wright Seminary, Tribune, Barbara Dana. The Tacoma branch of American Association of University Women honored its new members with a reception in the Great Hall of Annie Wright Seminary. Mrs. E.N. Davidson, president of the Tacoma branch, opened the business meeting . A musical program was furnished by students of Annie Wright. Mrs. M.J. Activities at Annie Wright Seminary. Three students at Annie Wright Seminary practice their ballet movements. The students met every Monday and Friday in dance studio to practice, under the direction of Mis Nancy Jane Bare. They performed for the Christmas party, "Prince Rupert" and "Hunting for the Christmas Tree", for May Day, and a mid-year recital with "Gossip" and "Rondina".
