Scope and content

ca. 1934. Historical monument located on Main Street in the town of Steilacoom. The monument was erected in 1908 to commemorate construction in 1853 of the first Protestant church north of the Columbia River. The monument stands on the site of that church and is constructed of stone topped with the bell of that first church. The church was built by the Rev. John F. DeVore, D.D., and his parishioners.
