Scope and content

Civilian Conservation Corp men logging trees in Point Defiance Park. The men lived at the CCC camp at Point Defiance. Their work detail consisted of clearing brush and timber in the park and building roads, trails and structures. The CCC was available to Depression era unemployed men. Most were 18 - 25 years of age, however the LEM (local expert men) were skilled workers aged 25 and up. They would enlist for 15 months. At Point Defiance, most of the men were from the Northwest.
