Clad in white, several rows of newly minted LPNs (licensed practical nurses) clutch their beribboned diplomas and certificates during Tacoma Vocational-Technical School's graduation ceremonies on November 14, 1957. Over a thousand hours of training was necessary to graduate and often included years of employment. Friends and family filled the seats in the school's auditorium to watch the 6th annual graduation exercises for the 49 recipients.
