View of scenic Kapowsin Lake recreation area as seen through tall Douglas firs and alders in July, 1963. Several vehicles parked under the shady trees are loaded with small boats preparing to join others on the serene lake. St. Regis Paper Co. had previously used the lake to store logs from the Kapowsin Tree Farm but had recently opened up the lake area to recreational boating and picnicking. The Kapowsin Lake public boat launching are was one of the most popular sites. Access to the lake was offered with facilities for launching boats and parking trailers.
