Scope and content

The Parkland Centre was owned by several generations of the Gratias family, starting with building contractor Frank Gratias and followed by wife Peggy and son Ron Gratias. New in 1948, the South Garfield St. building was completely insulated and had hot water throughout. Free parking was available. Tenants included Johnson's Drugs, College Cleaners and Stella's Flowers with apartments believed located on the top level. The Parkland Centre was located near Pacific Lutheran College (now University). (Additional information provided by a reader)
