Scope and content
Eighty one year old Dorothy Hamre was one of the main opponents of a proposed ordinance barring roosters from the North End and limiting households to 12 hens. Mrs. Hamre lived at 2208 No. 27th and relied on her chickens as her sole source of income. After the vote was taken by the City Council on April 21, 1926, Mrs. Hamre and Tacoma's roosters were triumphant.
