Scope and content

Members of the Jovita Community Club posed for a group portrait at a banquet on April 11, 1940. The rural community of Jovita, in King County adjacent to Edgewood, was platted in 1907. It was named for the granddaughter of real estate developer C.A. Stokes. The settlement included a sawmill and a station on the Puget Sound Electric Railway (the Interurban). Nearby Trout Lake, once known as Jovita Lake, was the home of author and historian Murray Morgan. The area is growing rapidly today. TPL-6369
