Scope and content
ca. 1965. Copy of customer drawing. This appears to be a drawing of an aerial view of downtown Tacoma ca. 1965. As a potential solution to the downtown parking problem, a joint venture between private business, the City of Tacoma and the federal government was announced on October 15, 1965, by New Tacoma Parking Corporation's president, A.E. Saunders (who was also the president of Puget Sound National Bank). Two downtown garages, at a cost of approximately $2.5 million dollars, would add 763 parking spaces. The projected garages are the white structures between 9th & 13th Streets. Photograph ordered by the Central Association of Tacoma on October 8, 1965. (TNT 10-15-65, p. 1)
