Scope and content
A copy of a customers print, ordered by E.W. Mason. Copy of Richards photograph D737-2 taken in December 1936 for the Tacoma Times. Ed Mason poses with the model of "The Empress of Britain," the flagship of the Canadian Pacific Line, that he built. His tools lie in front of the model while he makes a small repair with what appears to be a pair of tweezers. If paid a $1.00 per hour, his labor on the model ship would have brought in an income of around $3,000. He worked approximately 3 hours a day for three years on the model ship. The plans for the model were provided by the Canadian Pacific Line, who displayed the model ship in a glass case in their Tacoma office. (See A7159 image 1 for the model on display) Sixteen year old Ed Mason was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Mason and resided at 2501 No. Washington St. (T. Times 12-21-1936)
