Scope and content
In September of 1956, four small unidentified Japanese American girls were photographed standing in stairstep order, dressed in traditional kimonos and zori. The photograph was intended as publicity for the upcoming Florist convention and its florist tea. Tacoma florists were playing host at the 32nd annual convention of the Northwest Florists Association Sept. 9-12. Six hundred florists from the Northwest attended the conference held at the Winthrop Hotel. The theme was "Artists at Work and Play." Photograph ordered by Miethkes Flower Shop for florist tea.
