Scope and content

In October of 1956 two unidentified mechanics worked on repairing bicycles behind the counter at Ray's Bike Shop at 8807 Bridgeport Way in Lakewood. Ray's was owned by William M. Barclay. He had recently moved his shop from its old location at 8825 Bridgeport Way. In the foreground, bike seats are on display and the case to the left contains lights, chain guards, inner tube patching kits and other accessories. Bike wheels hang from the ceiling. Tools hang from the back wall, under signs warning that all parts and labor are to be paid cash in advance. Mr. Barclay owned Ray's for 15 years; he retired in 1968 and died in 1970 at the age of 75.
