Scope and content
Of the 5,200 turkeys at Southworth's Turkey Farm, 2550 birds are being prepared for Thanksgiving orders placed by staff at McChord Field, Fort Lewis and Camp Murray. Men at the turkey farm are tediously plucking some of the Thanksgiving birds. The Southworth brothers, Roy, W. H. and Charles, have raised turkeys for market for the last ten years at their Brookdale farm, an area located east of McChord Field and south of the Parkland Golf Course. (T. Times, 11/20/1940, p. 1).
