Scope and content

A distraught Elsie Buchli, 21, (L) reunites with twin sister, Dorothy, at police headquarters on November 29, 1940. Elsie Buchli was accused of the toy-gun holdup of Riviera Theater cashier Eva Kuchera on November 27, 1940, which netted the ex-schoolteacher only $13. Miss Buchli first confessed that she had robbed the theater to get funds to return to her housekeeping job in Oregon. Later she admitted that she intended to follow her soldier boyfriend to Alaska and needed money immediately. (T.Times 11-29-40, p. 1)
