Scope and content
In April of 1941, Forest W. France, the 73-year-old Mayor of Buckley, and his city council were at war with each other over city appointments. Mayor France, who had previously served 29 years as Buckley's postmaster and five as school director, was trying to protect the chief of police who's job was being threatened by the council. Mayor France refused to resign despite being presented with a petition signed by 200 persons. (T. Times 4/30/1941 p.1)
