Scope and content
The popularity of bowling was still very high in the 1950's. Many bowling leagues were formed composed of teams from various local companies. Pictured in this April 3, 1958, photograph are the members of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph team. Bowling fashions were slowly changing; women were now wearing slacks to bowl rather than always wearing dresses or skirts. View of telephone employees amassed between alleys; those sitting on the lane itself have their fingers properly inserted in the balls. This particular bowling center apparently had the practice of listing the teams/sponsors on signs overhead; included are the Three Hearts from Hydraulic Engineers; Hi-Jinks from Steven Motor Co., Rollin' Pins from Stadium Service and Triple Threat from the Pease Bros. Teams from the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph may have been called the Telephone Trios; this may have been a special league where the teams were divided into groups of three. Photograph ordered by Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co.
