Scope and content
49,000 copies of the Tacoma phone book, from the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co., would be distributed on June 26, 1941. It would be the largest issue ever published as well as containing the most numbers, most pages, and most copies printed. Margaret Bell is pictured above holding a copy of the new phone book which has a band warning customers not to use the book until June 29th as there would be more than 4,000 number changes effective at that time. Tacoma's phone system would then become totally dial operated. (T.Times 6-26-41, p. 7; TNT 6-26-41, p. 6)
