Scope and content
In this photograph from August 1941, a kitten peeked out over the top of the largest of the Washington State Dahlia Society trophies that was going to be presented at the 1941 Dahlia Show held on August 30-31 at the Point Defiance Pavilion. Wilma Thomson posed with several large blossoms from the garden of ClarenceTryon. For the 1941 show there were four classes of exhibitors, and to eliminate any chance of color favoritism by judges the flowers were divided into color classes. (T.Times 8/29/1941 p.1)
