To celebrate National Restaurant Month, the Pierce County Chapter of the Washington State Association of Restaurants, and the Cooks and Waiters Union, hosted their 7th annual luncheon for members of the Chamber of Commerce on October 14, 1959. More than 400 local business leaders and city, county and state officials were guests for the event, held in the Elks Club ballroom. The meal was prepared by representatives of the Tacoma Vocational School and served by members of the Cooks and Waiters Union, who posed outside the Elks building on the Spanish steps.
