Scope and content
Zachary A. Vane, pioneer Tacoma realtor, brandishes the "V" for victory symbol as he settles in with his wartime transportation for the duration. World War II brought shortages in gasoline, tires and vehicles, while producing in Tacoma a need for more housing. This hit area realtors very hard. Vane responded with his "Vane's Victory Vehicle," a small Austin automobile which he refered to as his "Shangri-La office." Vane and his vehicle are photographed in front of his real estate office at 5420 South Tacoma Way. Vane, a Democrat, was running for his 5th term as State Representative for the 29th District.
