Doing her part for civil defense in August of 1942, the wife of the Mayor of Tacoma, Marjorie Cain (left) learns all about automobile mechanics during a class sponsored by the Army Ordnance Base, Ft. Lewis. In addition to being at her husband's side for public functions, she also organized and directed the "Victory Varieties," that raised money for the Red Cross during the war.
