Scope and content
Like many of the 60 plus members of the Tacoma Philharmonic in 1942, the four members shown here, when not playing music, could be found working at the Tacoma shipyards. Standing are (l to r) Harold Whelan, Assistant Concert Master, and Eugene Linden, Conductor. Seated are (l to r) George Johnson, Concert Master, holding his violin, and Carl Svedberg, a member of the percussion section and an accomplished pianist. (Tacoma Daily Ledger, 9/6/1942).
