Scope and content
Alice (Mrs. Donald) McFadon started her busy day during the War Chest campaign in October of 1942 by getting up earlier than usual and preparing a hurried breakfast for her family at 609 No. "D" St. Like more than 2000 other housewives and mothers, she was a volunteer solicitor for the campaign and would spend the day on her feet, visiting businesses and door-to-door asking for donations. Tacoma's fund raising goal for 1942 was $365,000. (TNT 10/18/1942, pg. 1)
