Scope and content
Artist Gertrud DuBrau Kogler points with a brush to one of her oil paintings located in her studio at 5931 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W. on July 12, 1962. The large framed painting is a still life including a tea kettle, vase and fruit. Many other paintings, including a male nude and natural outdoor scenes, are clustered nearby. Mrs. Kogler would be featured in the August, 1962, Handforth Gallery exhibit at the Tacoma Public Library. It would be her third solo show at the library. Mrs. Kogler was a native of Germany and was the exhibit chairman of the Lakewood Artists. Many of her paintings were of northwest scenes; she did not stick to one style but painted still life, impressionistic and abstract. (TNT 7-29-62, D-12)
