Scope and content
Flagpole dedication in memory of Marcus Nalley. Solemn faces view the flag ceremonies on May 22, 1963, at Nalley's headquarters which honored founder Marcus Nalley. Members of the University of Puget Sound's Air Force ROTC are pictured raising the flag. In addition, a bronze cast of Nalley was also dedicated in front of 200 spectators. Previous ceremonies honoring Nalley included the Pierce County Board of Commissioners presentation to the Croatian-born Nalley of its "Outstanding Naturalized Citizen Award" in September, 1962, a month before his death. Nalley had died in his sleep on October 25, 1962, while at his game preserve, Nalley Dale, on the Puyallup River. Photograph ordered by Nalley's. (TNT 5-23-63, B-8)
