Scope and content
In March of 1964, Geraldine "Gerry" Gennow, Miss Tacoma Home Show for 1964, was photographed resting on a bar stool carved in the form of a "primitive" sculpture by Gale Haner. She was surrounded by other statues and carved wooden pieces created by Mr. Haner from Northwest fir, cedar and hemlock. Mr. Haner's works were on display at the 16th annual Home Show held at the UPS Fieldhouse. Gale Haner Signs and Designs, 8637 Pacific Avenue, had been in business for about four years. Most of Mr. Haner's sculptures were burned and sandblasted to bring out their striking "raised grain" effect. Photograph ordered by National Home Show. (TNT 3/16/1964, p. 30 & 10/31/1965 p.B-14 )
