Studio portrait of James A. (J.A.) Mitchell, Constable for Tacoma Police Court. Mr. Mitchell had served with the Tacoma police force for 12 years, including a ride in the department's first motorized "patty wagon" in 1910. He resigned to take the post of Constable in 1914, one he held until 1919. At that time he left to work for the School Board as custodian. On retirement, he ran again for Constable and won. (T.
