On April 8, 1943, the state of Washington was awarded a special plaque by the War Production Board for their outstanding efforts in the collection of scrap metal to be salvaged. Pictured with the award are, left to right, J.C. Haley, Mrs. Pearl Wanamaker, Gov. Arthur B. Langlie, Fred Chitty and Elmer J. Nelson. The group are in the Capital building in Olympia. (T.
