Carver at work. The carver's face is unseen but his sturdy hands are pictured carefully carving the image of a worker, possibly a logger, dressed in overalls and boots and carrying a shovel, onto a large piece of wood. The wood is already scored in a leaf pattern. Two of the carver's tools rest against the carving while he uses a third. The work was being conducted at the residence of lumber magnate Ben Cheney.
