Scope and content

Gambling House Raid. State Patrol raided this Broadway gambling den, the Good Luck Club, the evening of April 16th, 1943 and arrested eleven reputed operators. The names of 72 patrons were also recorded, but they were not detained. The raid was conducted under the direction of Governor Langlie, at the request of Tacoma Mayor Harry Cain. The interior of the facility is shown with tables overturned, papers strewn on the floor, stools stacked by the wall and cubicles shown with their doors hanging open. One lone pinball machine stands by itself. This was the second successful raid in eight months. (T.Times, 4/17/1943, p.1-picture; TNT 4/17/1943, pg. 1)
