Scope and content
Photographed at the Hotel Winthrop on April 21, 1943, three days later on Saturday the 24th five members of the new Pierce County Chapter of the National Organization of Minute Maids made their first public appearance at the war bond sale at Liberty Center, 800 Broadway. Minute Maids (l to r) Jean Connor, Barbara Engberg, Kay Woods - leader, Lucille Ludwick and Lucia Kisducak were encouraging Tacomans to buy war stamps and "Avenge Tokyo Raiders Bonds". Those who purchased a war bond could have a ride in an army jeep - with one of the Minute Maids - as a special bonus. They could also have a jeep named after their wife, husband, son, daughter, or favorite club, to have their own jeep fight for them on a foreign field. (T.Times 4/23/1943 p.11)
