Washington Governor Arthur Langlie (left), Tacoma Mayor Harry P. Cain (rt) and Major George LaFray, US Army, engage in conversation in front of Washington State Legislative (Capitol) Building in Olympia. Major LaFray swore Cain into Army service on Wednesday afternoon, May 5, 1943, in Seattle. He would be leaving shortly thereafter for the military training school in Charlottesville, Virginia.
