Scope and content
In 1943 Lionel Brubaker and his 13-year-old daughter Shirley were photographed while working together preparing their fishing gear for the Poggie Club's annual Father-Son Salmon Derby to be held later in the summer. Despite the event's name, the event was open to all children and even childless adults could "borrow" a boy or girl for the day. The Brubaker family resided at 3220 North 27th Street. Lionel Brubaker was listed as an employee of the County Auditor & Recorder in the 1942 City Directory. He was later the business manager for Mountain View General Hospital and a member of the Lincoln Lions Club, Afifi Temple, Scottish Rite Bodies, and State Lodge 68, F & AM. Mr. Brubaker passed away on May 24, 1970, at the age of 65. (T.Times, 8/6/1943, p.13; TNT 5-25-70-obituary)
