Scope and content
In November of 1967, Harry Oudean (left) worked with ten year old Bobby White on how to lip a trumpet in the Tacoma - Pierce County Senior Citizen's Center Building at 923 North 13th Street. Mr. Oudean, who had played with many of the nation's top bands, was a member of the newly created Tacoma Senior Citizen's Marching Band. The band was the brain child of Ed Apstein, the director of the senior center, and was sponsored by Tacoma - Pierce County Opportunity and Development, Inc. Beyond performing in parades and at various functions, the members of the band hoped to work with Tacoma's young musicians to pass on their skills and years of experience.
