Sea trials. The "Cabrillo," elegant in its blue, white, and red coloring, quietly completes sea trials in late May, 1968. Water is being released through the scupper. She had been launched by J.M. Martinac Shipbuilding on February 17, 1968, with Gale Marie Soares as sponsor. The large vessel was built to carry 650 tons of tuna and would be used for fishing in Puerto Rican waters.
