Paul Tanaka, daisy in his lapel, poses with two counselors and two campers at the free summer camp held at Camp Murray during the summer of 1968. Mr. Tanaka was the camp director. Governor Dan Evans permitted the National Guard facility to be used as a free summer camp for thousands of Tacoma-area children in 1968 as part of the city's anti-poverty measures.
