Scope and content
By November of 1968, Engine House No. 3, which had been built in 1907, had been renovated and turned into a Senior Center for aged citizens of Tacoma. Led by executive director Mary Ann Truitt, the center provided activities for its senior members including art, music and excursions. The Senior Center was a unit of the Tacoma-Pierce County Opportunity & Development, Inc., an anti-poverty agency. It was visited regularly by 1,200 seniors. The building was converted into apartments/condos in 1980. Photograph ordered by the Tacoma-Pierce County Opportunity & Development, Inc. (TNT 12-8-68, D-1) TPL-9872
