Scope and content
Boat launching party. The "Anna Maria" was launched at the Port Industrial Yard on September 20, 1969. Built by Tacoma Boat for fishing out of San Diego, the steel-hulled "Anna Maria" at 191 feet was the largest tuna seiner built at that time. She could hold 1100-ton of frozen fish. The ship's captain was Roland Virissimo; his wife, holding traditional spray of red roses, was the sponsor. The "Anna Maria" was scheduled for delivery in late November and was expected to reach San Diego by December 1. Photograph ordered by Tacoma Boat Building.
