Bank of Washington Plaza dedication. Governor Dan Evans wields the giant gold scissors as he snips the white ribbon officially opening the Bank of Washington Plaza on January 9, 1971. Tacoma Mayor Gordon N. Johnston, in brown suit, moves in to assist him. Governor Evans and other dignitaries had arrived for the event in a National Guard helicopter that landed on the 24-story tower's helipad.
