Chehalis businessman Leonard C. "Bud" Merta was presented the "State Small Businessman of the Year Award for 1971" on May 11, 1971 at ceremonies held in the Pacific National Bank of Washington Plaza building. The award was from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Mr. Merta is shown above on the left receiving the award from William Strickland, acting director of the SBA's Seattle regional office.
