Scope and content
Damaged cargo. A battered and torn 40-foot red container is being hoisted from the Japanese cargo ship, the "Kinyo Maru," on January 9, 1975. This was just one of the heavily damaged steel containers removed from the ship's Number 2 hold. Lashings had broken apparently during the stormy voyage to Tacoma. Several men in hard hats observe the procedure while on the wet and slushy deck. The vessel was docked at Pier 7 in Tacoma. Color photograph ordered by Howard, LeGros, Buchanan & Paul, Seattle.
