1975 Richards color stock footage. Standing before a replica of the "Betsy Ross flag" are 10-year-old Mark Mackenroth, Tacoma mayor Gordon N. Johnston and three women dressed in Colonial attire. The photograph was taken at the April 18, 1975, groundbreaking for the Bicentennial Pavilion, a year prior to the nation's bicentennial celebrations. The Bicentennial Pavilion was the $2,000,000 civic center built at 13th & Market in downtown Tacoma.
