Pennwalt plant. Located on 40 acres in the industrial Tacoma tideflats, the company was first known as the Pennsylvania Salt Manufacturing Co. of Washington or Pennsalt. Pennwalt was an inorganic chemical manufacturer of chlorine gas, caustic soda, liquid chlorine and hydrogen gas.
