Studio portrait of Mrs. Lucille Hurst. Mrs. Hurst, the widow of Dr. Cecil Hurst, posed for a portrait in early May of 1977. She resided at 3635 North Washington St. She, along with civic leaders Thomas Mallon and Gerrit VanderEnde, would be honored on June 9, 1977, at the annual awards banquet of the Tacoma-Pierce County chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. All three would receive the NCCJ 1977 Brotherhood Award. Mrs. Hurst was a member of the Temple Beth El and was a 40-year member of the Tacoma section, National Council of Jewish Women and served as president twice. Her many community contributions included secretary of Faith Home, charter member of the Civic Ballet Board, and secretary-treasurer of the NAACP. Photograph ordered by Lucille Hurst.
