Taking the WAVES oath. Alice Mary Scheitlin, on left standing next to a floral anchor, takes the Navy Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service oath. Lt. Samuel Fleming, center, swore in Ms. Scheitlin at a "Kick-off" dinner for a wartime recruitment drive. Eleanor Frank, Specialist Recruiter, Second Class was also present, right.
