Scope and content
In September of 1944 a cloud of dust was kicked up by an unidentified Tacoma city employee as he used a street sweeper to clean the edge of St. Paul Avenue on the Tacoma tideflats. City bonds provided funds for streets to be maintained throughout the year. The Ball Brass Company in the background was at 1113 St. Paul Avenue. Ball Brass was founded by George W. Ball in 1908. They specialized in bronze, brass, copper and aluminum casting.
