Scope and content
After a long struggle a fisherman, who wanted to remain anonymous, caught a Basking shark while fishing on Commencement Bay in October 1944. The shark was 23 feet long and weighed between 400-500 pounds. The shark is identified as a maneater because of its double rows of teeth. View of fisherman holding shark's mouth open. (T. Times, 10/17/44, p. 1).
