Scope and content

On Wednesday November 7, 1945, the U.S.S. Takanis Bay brought both Capt. Henry Foss, U.S.N., and his son Drew Foss back from the war in the Pacific. Mrs. Agnes S. Foss could not have wished for a better present. Capt. Foss entered the war as a reservist shortly after the beginning of the war. His son Drew was on the tug boat "Justine Foss" at Wake Island when the island was captured in December of 1941 by the Japanese. Drew spent the next four years as a prisoner of war.
